Technology of electrochemical sedimentation of nickel-boron alloy on various products instead of gold, silver, palladium, chrome, nickel

  Purpose

  Drawing of protective, functional Ni-B coating on various metal surfaces: copper, brass, beryllium
  bronze, kovar, steel, tungsten, aluminum and its alloys, etc. The technology of drawing Ni-B coating is
  based on use of process of electrochemical sedimentation of the two-componential alloy characterized
  by low transitive resistance, increased hardness, wear resistance, corrosion stability, good weldability
  by ultrasound and soldering-ability.
  Ni-B polycrystalline coating (from 1 up to 6 at. % of boron) is used in manufacturing printed-circuit-
  boards (instead of gold and palladium coatings) or as a sublayer under gold, in manufacturing various
  sorts of contacts and contacting devices (instead of gold and silver coatings).

Ni-B amorphous coating (from 16 up to 25 at. % of boron) is used in manufacturing tools, products of electronic mechanical engineering (instead of chromic coatings); refrigerators used in the process of manufacturing glass fiber; cutting disks for processing diamond raw material (to produce brilliants).

Characteristics
Speed of coating sedimentation for baths:
Stationary type, micron / hour 25-50
Drum-type and bell type, micron / hour 5-10
Temperature of sedimentation, degrees centigrade 20-50
Used boron-containing compound possesses high chemical stability and efficiency6-8
Micro hardness of a coating, GPa 6-8
After heat treatment (300 degrees centigrade), GPa

Wear resistance:
Nickel - boron (under dry friction), cubic mm 2х10 exp. - 10
Nickel, cubic mm 8х10 an item - 5
Durability of adhesion Ni-B coating with aluminum conductor, g 10-16

  • Corrosion-resistant against influence of hydrochloric (sea) fog, atmosphere, condensed precipitation, change of temperature of environment (thermocycling);
  • Technology of nickel - boron alloy sedimentation is characterized by significant money and material resource saving.
Advantages:
  • Simplicity of operation of electrolyte and its long use in the process of correcting;
  • Reduction of the production cost;
  • An opportunity of carrying out coating amorthization (borating) at low temperature.
