Numerical simulation of oil displacement process
MiningManager is integrated software for geological, geophysical and engineering data management, visualization and analysis for oil and gas industry.MiningManager
has integrated tools for the creation (import) of geological models of oilfield, mathematical simulation of three-dimensional oil extraction process from inhomogeneous porous media (Backley-Leverett
model), 2/3D visualization of the results of numerical simulations and factual extraction data. These functionalities are used for solving of operative problems to speed the process of decision
making (during analysis of current situation of extracting process and planning the technologic measures, for comparison of different scenarios of displacement, for detailed 3D hydrodynamic
simulation of some oilfield fragment, for preparation of documentation and reports). Mining Manager is integrated with modules of Landmark, Schlumberger, Roxar and may be used as mobile addition to
it. It works under Windows 9x/NT/2K/XP and has user friendly interface.
Geological simulation
Mining Manager has integrated tools for automatic creation, import, analysis, correction and post-processing of 2D/3D grids characterizing the properties of multiplayer inhomogeneous porous reservoir. It gives possibility to take into account the geophysical and seismic data, geological faults, to use different methods of interpolation ( spline, Kridge, k-spline). The created grids may be used as input for hydrodynamic simulation, for 2D/3D visualization of geological model and current state of oil extraction process. Mining Manager has special easy-to-use modules for generation of standard geological Minings (structure Minings of layer's top (bottom), thickness of layer, lithology, layer's properties), which provide user "one button interface".
Analysis of oil extraction process
Mining Manager has developed tools for simulation, visualization and analysis of retrospective and current state situation of oil extraction process. Results can be quickly visualized using the interactive Miningping (production Minings, pressure Minings, stream lines), cross-sections (illustration of pressure and oil saturation), charts.
Data Management
Mining Manager has special module CARAT for log curves interpretation and analysis
Mining Manager has no its own internal databases. Its main functionalities (2D/3D visualization of geological structure of oilfield and current state of oil extraction, numerical simulation of extracting process) are connected with the usage of external ones. Nevertheless, Mining Manager has special module WELLMANAGER for data management. It provides user the possibility to analyze the geological and technological data bases simultaneously with thematic Minings.
Numerical simulation of oil displacement process
Mining Manager provides the simulation of non-steady-state isothermal flow of two immiscible liquids in multicoherent porous volume when the movement of superseding liquid (water) is supposed to follow the generalized Darcy's law, the superseded phase (oil) is considered as non-Newtonian one.
The oil extraction practice requires the solutions of operative analysis and forecasting of researched processes, the estimation of various factors influence, the opportunity of fast acceptance of the decisions adequate to this or that situation. For practical realization of listed aspects the integrated software was created. It includes:
- The generator of 3D geological and hydrodynamic models of the bed which define the geometry, properties and boundary conditions for the domain under consideration. Models may be created using real technological databases or imported from third party product (Landmark, Shlumberger, Roxar formats are supported).
- The simulator of 3D fields of pressure and saturation which provides numerical solutions of boundary-value problems inside parallelepiped under consideration.
- The modules of 2D/3D visualization of geological, engineering models and results of hydrodynamic simulations.
- The developed software was used for simulation of oil extraction process from real production oilfield
