Drug for neoplasia photodynamic therapy

Purpose

The pharmaceutical based on a new generation nanosomal sensitizer for photodynamic therapy of neoplasia with activation of near-infrared light

Features

The method of photodynamic therapy of malignant tumors based on
• the ability of photosensitizers to be accumulated in tumor tissues
• to acquire pronounced cytotoxic properties upon excitation

Activation nanosomal photosensitizer with radiation in the region of maximum transparency of biotissues leads to tumor tissue damage.
The water-soluble dye nanosomal tricarbocyanine dye when used as a photosensitizer for photochemotherapy allows to obtain necrosis of tumor tissue at the depth of 2.7 cm with a selectivity of accumulation of 4 - 5.

Advantages

• provides therapy and diagnosis of deep-seated (up to several centimeters) areas of localization of pathological tissues;
• maintains its effectiveness in hypoxic conditions;
• photochemotherapeutic damage in vivo of tumor tissues increases several times the wavelength at photoexcitation in a range from 668 to 780 nm;
• ability to make changes and optimize photochemotherapy session protocol for an individual patient.
